WIP (work in progress)…

It looked sort of strange out the other morning, so I thought I’d take a picture.  All though, it looked a lot more bazaar in person.  The sky was really purple and the golden sun was to the left peeking through the clouds.  Why is that so hard to capture in a photo?

Here’s a my first real knitting project.  Once it’s finished, it will be a felted bowl.  As I look at it, I still can’t believe it’s knitted and by me! I found the pattern at deborahgray.org–thanks Deborah!  I cannot wait until I get to the felting part.  No surprise there.

Flashback!

Last evening Mr. Savvy and I sat on the couch listening to 80’s hair band music while we worked.  It all started when I turned to Mr. S and said, "when I was little, My Uncle Jack gave me a Cars tape for my birthday."  We covered Motley Crue, AC/DC, and many more. Helter Skelter, Dirty Deeds.  Angry music as I call it. lol Then we moved onto Billy Idol’s, Eyes Without A Face.  We even listened to a little Pat Benatar-really not sure how she got in there, but the cd covers reminded me of looking at my Aunt Jane’s record collection when I was a kid.

Of course we didn’t stop there with memories…my sister was mentioned once or twice as she was knee deep in high school during the 80’s along with Mr. Savvy.  We had skate boards-Skate or Die, you know.  Parachute pants anyone?  We also did a lot of break dancing in the back yard. Very cool.  Being a good older sister, The Elf kept me well stocked with jelly and slinky bracelets.  The slinky bracelets were rather fragile as I recall.

Oh Cindy!  I forgot to show you a couple of snaps I took of MTV.  Just in case you were wondering what they play over here.  Anyone remember Cindy’s papery dresses?  Mr. S says they were made of trash-kind of recycled.  Is this true?

Feel free to add a couple of your own memories in the comments….

Ack! Rat in the House!

That’s one of my favorite lines from Along Came Polly (when Reuben first sees Polly’s ferret in her apartment).

Rocker and I were waiting on the elevator when out of the corner of my eye, I see Mr. Savvy doing the zowie chowie dance out the door.  "What’s wrong with you," I say.  And then I see IT.  Gasp! Horror! as IT wedges itself in between the door and the frame (as in, when you open the door, IT’s going into our apartment).  "What are we going to do?!?!?"

Mr. Savvy casually says, "It’s ok, they eat bugs.  We’ve probably already got 6 in the apartment." Gasp!  Shock! (again) We leave IT on the outside of the door and after Rock’s walk, Mr. Savvy shewed it away.  I make it sound like it was no big deal, but it was a bit of an ordeal to say the least.

Last night we went to a garden party and there were roaches and geckos on the side of the house.  Great atmosphere amidst the candle light.  And someone said that around these parts, it’s supposedly good luck if a gecko comes into your house.  Is it me, or does that sound like what a clever parent would say to their child at bedtime.  "Don’t worry about that ol’ gecko sneaking into your bed, it’s good luck!"  I don’t know how you feel, but I’ll take my chances.

P.S. Thanks for the comments on the new blog.  I really appreciate it.

Welcome to My New Nest…

Well, here we are….  Welcome & make yourself comfy because this is where I’ll be posting from now on.

First off, a (big) THANK YOU to my pal, Krissy, for a job well done on the banner.  It fits me well as I always have a lot of odds and ends laying on my work table.  And a second (big) THANK YOU to my husband, Butch, for thinking up The Savvy Crafter.  Another good fit for me because my designs have often been described as clever.  It’s also no secret that since I moved here to the East, I’ve had to become pretty savvy on what materials I use in my designs.  It’s not so easy to get to the crafty super-stores anymore.  Sob, sniff.  Ok, enough.

Thanks always for checking in and feel free to drop me a line in the comments.  šŸ™‚ c
