Cutie beaded witch projectby Mary Yaeger over at Beading Daily. Free until Oct. 27th! I'm a sucker for striped socks and I love the cape on this chick. You could make a single one and slide it on some stripey ribbon or ball chain for a fun necklace too.
Lovin’ on these guys…
Vampire Weekend. I know they've been around for a bit, but I'm just now catchin' on. Better late than never.
And my pal, Jay Musler's work:
I met Jay down at Penland school of crafts. One cool guy. Jay Musler.com for a peek and if you're in the Chicago area, run on over to Marx/Saunders for an up close and personal experience.
Stringing Magazine…
surprised me! Thank you Interweave Press and the editors at Stringing for including my necklace on the cover of the Fall issue. What an honor! The piece is titled Migration and I made it long before I decided to move home from China. Makes me wonder… Do you ever make something and it goes together really smoothly? This was one of those pieces—granted I'd been thinking about it long before I ever picked up the pliers and beads. Definitely like to let the soup simmer before I dig in with the spoon. This was the first time submitting to Stringing, so being on the cover is just ultra sweet…or should I say "tweet." (corny. I know. very corny.)
Stringing out Oct. 7th in newsstands…
True Confessions…
from a former garage band girl…
One of my favorite things about Rocker is his silhouette. Tonight, when we were out for our walk, there were street lamps shining on our backs creating ultra bold shapes on this shed of a canvas or canvas of a shed.. So we did an immediate U turn back for the camera. This is Rocker and Candie's the Scream. Rocker's idea.
Photoshop. What would we do without it? Anyway, true confessions….I used to be in a garage band back in high school. The Worms. That was the name of our band. I played the bass guitar. Since moving back to Wabash, affectionately called, The Bash, I've seen a couple of old members. But tonight, I got a random call, totally out of the blue from one of my old buddies who was also in the band. He's been living in Germany the past 5 years and it was so neat to catch up and talk about living abroad. I haven't seen him in over 10 years so this was pretty surreal. Thank you Nate-Dog for calling. And thanks everyone for the loving emails and comments. XX.
Return to Sender…

Thank you for all the warm thoughts. We're hanging in there and got a little good news today. It's almost strange that this happened so soon after I got home…makes me wonder if it was in the Universe's plan all along.
Saw my "Return to Sender" bracelet posted as a free project on the Simply Beads website–I'd forgotten all about this little number because it's three years old. Oy! It's probably one of my favorite projects I've ever made for SB (did that sound a little Napoleon Dynamite-esque?). Have you played with Envirotex Lite? The finished surface is fabulous. So durable and clear.
You can snag loads of postage stamps on Ebay for next to nothing. And the bases are made from those famous scrabble tiles. Will we crafters ever tire of them? I think not.
Well…
Life has thrown a curve ball this past week. I wish I could tell you everyone is fine, no worries, everything will be back to normal tomorrow, but it won't. I'm using all my brain power to send good healing thoughts and helping where I can. Thank God I'm home for all this and not on the opposite side of the planet. Now we just have to wait…which feels like forever.
